First Look

In the first look poster of Raayan, the poster looks simple, silhouette of Ram Pothineni creates curiosity about the character that he is going to play. It shows him as a man alone down a dark highway, he wasn’t even carrying a gun with him, only a bag on his shoulder, implying he was on some mission. These gruff appearances suggest the otherwise silent and stunning dramatic plot of the movie. Well, it appears that Ileana D’Cruz is looking for someone as her first look demands a similar look.

Storyline

Ram Pothineni is seen in a double role as the protagonist Raayan, who, then, has a single aim, to take revenge on the villains who killed his mentor. The trailer doesn’t do a whole lot to show Raayan besides, he’s an absenter prisoner with no principles that he has to follow and will do anything to get his job done. But it looks like Ileana’s character is assisting and encouraging him in this mission. Their bonding do intensify until it is marked by romantic feelings. The film focuses on the idea of how Raayan gets back at those who killed his mentor and still keeps up with his two forms of relationships.

Direction & Script

From the look and the trailer itself, it clearly feels like first-time director Saikumar Reddy has made quite an appealing film to suit Pothineni’s personality. Rapid edits, intense lines of conversation, energetic and intense actions and sequences of pursuit are evidence of his efficient and dynamic direction skills. If managed competently it could also open wonders on the cash counters; or as they are known now: at the ibommatelugum.com

Music & Tracks

The music of this movie Raayan is given by rockstar Devi Sri Prasad. Two songs have been out which are two fun/funky/peppy mass numbers which represent the raw and rugged film perfectly well. In the songs we get to see Ram dancing passionately, although the passionate lovers’ scenes are more appealing. If the remaining songs also having same quality then this music album could be a chartbuster.

Technical Aspects

Cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev has done a good job representing the basic gist of Ram through his rough lone wolf introductions in the first look and trailer. The scope and stunts are impressive, arresting, and visibly propped, and the shootouts on ground, air and water; to the staged showdowns they lived out, all seemed gargantuan. On the whole very good technical output is there setting a high standard for the film.

Final Thoughts

Masses are on seventh heaven with an interesting plot, peppy music track, beautiful locales and a great star cast, Raayan all set to hit the summer season has all the recombinative accoutrements of a blockbuster. The fact that the lead actors, Ram and Ileana, share good screen presence and the couple have a lively chemistry is proving to be an extra boon for the film. If that is the kind of content Saikumar Reddy is making, that would be a stunning debut for this young director and the box-office would be on fire. People want to watch Ram in a mass movie after a long time. On the face of it, Raayan appears to fit the bill to the letter, which makes it compulsive viewing.
